Frequently Asked Questions
Q: We do not live in the Unionville / Kennett Square area. Is
my daughter eligible to participate in the URA Girls Lacrosse Program?
A: Yes. Our recreational program for Girls
Lacrosse is currently open to girls 1st grade through 8th grade. This is for
Girls Lacrosse only. If you wish to participate in other URA Recreation sports
programs, please go to URA Sports and contact the commissioner for the sport your daughter is interested in playing.
Q: May I, being a parent that has no Girls Lacrosse experience help
out?
A: Yes. We have had coaches, age group
commissioners, team moms, team dads, scheduling coordinators etc help in the past.
If you are a parent that has never played the game of lacrosse before, never seen
it, that is ok! We will not make you a head coach. Please consider voluteering
so this program can continue to grow and be successful for our children. Thank
you.
Q: What is the 1 / 2, 3 / 4, 5 / 6 and 7 / 8 listed on the About URA
Girls Lacrosse Rec?
A: Our program is broken out by grades.
1 / 2 is 1st and 2nd grades, 3 / 4 is 3rd and 4th grades and so on.
Q: What happens if it rains on a practice day or game day and the game
or practice is cancelled?
A: Our program is a recreational program and
we play other recreational programs. Unfortunately, all of these programs
have limited field space and times. Attempts to make up games will be made,
however, it is unlikely that practices will be rescheduled. Practice will
continue on the next scheduled practice date unless your coach contacts you with
other details.
Q: My daughter has been playing since she was in 1st grade and is currently
in 6th grade. She plays all year for different programs. Would it be
possible for my daughter to play with the 7th and 8th grade group to put her with
girls that are potentially the same skill level or higher?
A: No. We belong to an organizaton called
PAGLA. PAGLA participating
programs do their best to have an "A", "B" and "C"
level teams within their programs starting at 5 / 6. This allows for our programs
to have good competition at every game while allowing our children to play and practice
with other children at or above their skillsets.
Q: My next door neighbor and daughter and my daughter are best friends.
Can they play on the same team?
A: Possibly. They may end up on the same
team because they have similiar skills. Going back to the previous answer,
we do our best to group children by skill set, then by school etc. Although
it is nice to play on a team where you have a friend or two, it is also nice to
make new friends too! Most of our age groups practice on the same days during
the week, around the same time and at the same facilities, so carpooling should
not be an issue.
